WELCOME - I am Sharon Sexton, an award winning West End performer, recording artist , vocal and acting coach.

I have been teaching voice for over twenty years, working with students of all ages and abilities, from young children, to seasoned professionals. 

I studied classically at the Bel Canto School, and at DIT's Conservatory of Music. I hold an ADVANCED PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA in contemporary Singing Teaching from the London Voice College, An Honours Degree in Speech and Drama, a Masters in Directing for Theatre and am currently studying to become a Vocal Rehabilitation Specialist Professional with Vocal Health Education UK.

I am currently touring the UK playing the leading role of Sloane in the epic rock musical BAT OUT OF HELL. I was lucky enough to be hand picked by Jim Steinman to originate the role in 2017 and have played with the show on and off since then, as well clocking up a host of other professional leading credits over my 30 year career as a professional performer. 

The hands-on experience I have as a performer, offers a unique perspective in the classroom, which I am truly grateful for and which is a huge asset to my students who range from professional colleagues, recording artists and starry eyed youngsters who have big passion and talent, and bigger dreams.

I have taught singing all around the world, working as the Head Of Singing in ITW Dublin, The Gaiety School of Acting,  Head of Voice in SETS London, guest teaching in many third level musical theatre colleges throughout the UK and most recently, teaching singing at the Stage School Institute in Hamburg, one of the leading Musical theatre colleges in Europe.

I founded Science Of Singing in 2023 as place where I can consolidate all my teaching work. Here I offer classes, short courses and frequently host webinars- where I get to share my knowledge and geek out on all things voice! I am extremely passionate about vocal health, and about empowering all vocalists to really get to know their voices and unlock their full vocal potential! 

Whether you are singing in a choir or a seasoned professional - if you want to get a better understanding of YOUR instrument, how it works, how to strengthen it, maintain it and free it from tension with some tender loving care...you've come to the right place. 

Sharon has worked as a highly respected vocal coach and acting tutor for over 20 years in stage schools and vocational schools throughout the UK and Europe. She has acted as a voice coach on several professional theatrical productions and has prepared students for performances on both stage and screen, whilst also mentoring professional West End performers throughout long running West End shows.

She has successfully prepared students for examinations with LAMDA, Trinity,  The Irish Board of Speech and Drama and was an associate collaborator on the Musical Theatre Exam syllabus for the Leinster School of Music and Drama, Dublin.
